Historical pub in Norwich

The "Lamb Inn" in Norwich, England, is a historic pub that belongs to the Pub and Dining chain and has made a name for itself as the second oldest pub in Norwich, situated in the heart of the city. With a history dating back to the 12th century, the establishment combines historical significance with a modern, welcoming atmosphere. Centrally located in the bustling downtown area, it is a popular gathering spot for locals, tourists, and day visitors alike. It is particularly well-known for its spacious, enclosed courtyard, which is regarded as one of the best outdoor areas in the city – heated in winter and equipped with large umbrellas in summer, it offers a cozy retreat year-round. The "Lamb Inn" also tells the tale of three playful ghosts, adding a mystical touch to the place and highlighting its historical spirit.

Best pubs in Norwich city center

Culinary-wise, the "Lamb Inn" offers a mix of classic pub dishes and modern creations that promise both tradition and variety. A highlight is the Sunday Roast, featuring tender beef served with crispy roast potatoes, a fluffy Yorkshire pudding, and rich gravy – a dish that perfectly captures British culinary culture. The hand-battered Fish & Chips is another favorite, with fresh cod in a crispy batter served with golden fries, often accompanied by a refreshing slice of lemon. For those preferring something lighter, there are creative options like the Chicken Caesar Salad, which features juicy chicken strips and a creamy dressing. The menu also includes vegetarian and vegan alternatives, all prepared with the same care, ensuring there's something for every taste.

Lamb Inn courtyard for events

In addition to the food, the "Lamb Inn" is known for its extensive drinks menu, offering a wide selection of real ales, often from local breweries like Adnams or Wolf, as well as craft beers and cocktails. Particularly popular are the seasonal beer festivals, which attract enthusiasts eager to discover new and regional varieties. In the evenings, the courtyard transforms into a lively meeting spot where live music or quiz nights entertain guests – such as "Lamb Live" with local bands or the weekly quiz nights hosted by quizmaster Drew. The establishment values a casual yet warm atmosphere, complemented by modern decor featuring large screens for sports broadcasts and relaxed service.

Traditional British pub food

The historic building has been lovingly renovated, preserving its character while incorporating contemporary elements like an open bar and an additional dining area on the upper floor. The service is friendly and efficient, with staff striving to make a good impression even during peak times – such as during the Six Nations Rugby broadcasts – despite occasional minor challenges. The "Lamb Inn" is also dog-friendly and offers amenities like free Wi-Fi, making it attractive for longer stays.

To order your food go to the bar, don't use the QR code. It's confusing.

Lovely meal but so noisy we had a party of six music was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk so we left early You would expect this in a nightclub to have it this loud.not in a pub when people are eating and trying to have a conversation

Music so loud we couldn't have a conversation. Would have stayed much longer but once we finished eating we left. Would have been nicer for our valentine's evening to just be a bit softer at 5pm, perhaps it's perfect for 10 o'clock crowd.

Had to queue ages for very expensive drinks. Huge space in front of bar with no tables and all tables crammed in very dark ( couldn’t see menu.) Whose idea was it to remove all tables. Shan’t be going back
